Hello! I hope your weekend had been good!

Yesterday I did not do much, but on Saturday I went again for Porto's downtown and whenever I can I will share things about my city with you, for those who doesn't know it yet!
Saturday started late, but it was day to visit Porto Belo Market. This crafts fair is held on Saturdays in Carlos Alberto Square and is inspired by the Portobello Market, one of the most famous fairs in London streets!

While this is initiative is commendable and the name lives up to our city, however, this market is nothing comparable to the London's one, which extends by miles in a frenzy to which evryone, population and tourists adhere in mass and where we can find things like new articles, antiques, homemade cakes, food of all ethnicities, crafts, vegetables, fruit, flowers, leather and fur, hats, music, artists who play in the streets ... well, it is not even possible to enumerate! I think one of loanwords, the crafts fair had to pick the same name making me inevitably compare it to London's.

"Vêm do Ecomarché!" diz a senhora!
At Carlos Alberto Square we can find new and used clothes, old records, second-hand goods, accessories, jams, pieces of the author, among others. Since a few time that the Porto's downtown area has been witnessing a movement that values the unique and Portuguese products! It is with all my regret that I come to this market and I find little that is Portuguese and accessories that are for sale commonly encounter on a visit to the common and invasive Chinese shops that dot the city. Some heed to call them craft and original pieces! Or find a bank where they seel jams they call them biological and commented in conversation that there is no banana plantations around here to make jam. "They come from Ecomarché!" (supermarket) says the lady! But coming from Ecomarché they are not biological, much less the sugar, so what was organic about them? The fact that they are made by you and have a bottle that seems "homemade"?

With the amount of people I know who create objects, clothes and accessories and even those who liked to sell second hand things, it is a pity that due to bureaucracy, the market does not extend over a larger area and offer a larger and diversified above all that revive of the Portuguese crafts which today appears with increasingly higher quality.

What the market and Carlos Alberto Square has bettre is that when the afternoons are sunny , we can sit down and catch some sun in one of the terraces while drinking a coffee, eat lunch, read the newspaper, or simply enjoy the hustle and bustle of the fair, where it passes audiences of all ages, from children to pensioners who try to sell their antiques or old things at the fair!

After enjoying the afternoon, the sun and have a coffee, I went through the Avenida dos Aliados, Santa Catarina street where the musicians never fail around the streets of varying quality, going back to the store tissue, I couldn't resist bringing some more and I also found a tissue that I loved and I thought to be over, but there they found a last piece of it in the basement!
Finally we returned back an we just did a visit to the Mall Miguel Bombarda and the sun was already gone.
